Coco-Biodiesel: Philippines' Biofuel Revolution
D&L Industries, through subsidiary Chemrez Technologies, continues to drive greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in the Philippines by promoting coconut methyl ester (CME) as a key biodiesel component. From 2019 to 2024, CME sales avoided over 704,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to planting 11.7 million trees or removing 35,000 jeepneys from the road for a year. With the Department of Energy mandating higher biodiesel blends from B2 to B5 by 2026, CME is positioned as a renewable, biodegradable alternative that reduces dependence on fossil fuels while supporting cleaner air, energy security, and sustainable development.
